What is a PIR Sensor?
A Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) is an electronic device that measures infrared light radiating from objects within its field of view. We use PIRs to detect human movement to activate or de-activate audio and video devices.
How Do They Work?
Apparent motion is detected when an infrared source with one temperature, such as a person, passes in front of an infrared source with a different temperature, such as a wall. When the PIR detects movement, it will send a signal to activate your audio video player, such as the SoundClip Audio Player, VideoClip-HD or other media devices.
How Are They Fitted?
We offer two size of PIR sensors…
Large Wall/Ceiling PIR: The large version is a modified alarm style sensor which can be mounted onto a wall or on a ceiling. Not compatible with VideoClip-HD.
Small Panel PIR: The Small Panel PIR is a compact unit which can be hidden discretely behind a panel.
With two connection options Bare Ends or 3.5mm jack (note the 3.5mm option is compatible with our SoundScape)
